Every team has built a dashboard nobody opens. It took a week, it looks great in the demo, and by the second month the numbers are checked on instinct and gut feel again.
The pattern behind that: dashboards require someone to remember to look. Operations require something to tell you when it matters. An alert that fires into Slack at 9am on a Monday does more for a team than a beautiful view that needs a pilgrim.
Our rule after building both: every dashboard gets paired with the three alerts that would make checking it unnecessary. If no alert earns its place, the dashboard was decoration.
That's how we ship reporting: the self-refreshing view plus the threshold alerts that carry it, so the number finds the team instead of the other way round.
